1. Service Description
Dr. Refills is an asynchronous telehealth prescription refill service operated by Iwan S. Nyotowidjojo, M.D., A Professional Corporation, authorized under California Business & Professions Code §2290.5. The service enables California patients to request refills of established chronic medications without a real-time appointment.
⚠️ This is not an emergency service. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room immediately. Do not use Dr. Refills for urgent or emergency medical needs.
2. Eligibility Requirements
To use this service, you must:
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Be currently located in the State of California
- Have been taking the requested medication at the same dose for a minimum of three (3) continuous months
- Be requesting a refill of a medication on our approved formulary
- Have no new symptoms, medication changes, or hospitalizations since your last refill
- Not be pregnant or planning pregnancy (for applicable medications)
3. Scope of Service — What We Do and Do Not Provide
We provide:
- Physician review of chronic medication refill requests
- Electronic prescription transmission to your California pharmacy via DoseSpot/Treat
- 30-day prescription supplies only
- Maximum of 3 medications per visit; maximum 2 consecutive refills per medication
We do NOT provide:
- Emergency or urgent medical care
- Diagnosis or treatment of new medical conditions
- Initiation of new medications
- Dose changes or adjustments
- Controlled substances (DEA Schedules II–V)
- Insulin, GLP-1 agonists, anticoagulants, antipsychotics, or antibiotics
- A primary care relationship or ongoing disease management
- Mental health therapy or counseling
This service supplements but does not replace your relationship with your primary care physician. We strongly encourage all patients to maintain a regular relationship with a primary care provider.
4. No Guarantee of Approval
Submission of a refill request does not guarantee approval. Every request is reviewed by the physician (Iwan S. Nyotowidjojo, M.D.) who retains full clinical discretion to approve, deny, or request additional information for any request. If your request is not approved, you will not be charged.
5. Payment Terms
- The physician service fee is $35.00, charged only upon approval of your refill request
- Payment is processed securely through Stripe
- No refunds are provided after a prescription has been transmitted to a pharmacy
- If your request is declined, no charge is made
- We do not bill insurance for our physician service fee; patients pay out of pocket
- Your pharmacy may separately bill your insurance for the cost of your medication
6. SMS Communications
By providing your phone number, you consent to receive SMS text messages from Dr. Refills regarding your refill request status and payment links. Message & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time. Reply HELP for assistance.
We use Twilio to send SMS notifications. Message frequency varies based on your service activity (typically 1–3 messages per refill request). To opt out, reply STOP to any message. To re-subscribe, reply START.
7. Telehealth Consent
By using this service, you consent to telehealth services as defined under California Business & Professions Code §2290.5. You understand that:
- This is an asynchronous (store-and-forward) telehealth service — there is no live video or phone call
- Your information is reviewed by a licensed California physician
- The physician may not have access to your complete medical history
- Telehealth has limitations compared to in-person care
- You retain the right to seek in-person care at any time
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by California law, Dr. Refills and Iwan S. Nyotowidjojo, M.D., A Professional Corporation shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of this service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount paid for the specific service giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or fraud.
9. Privacy
Your use of this service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using this service, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described in our Privacy Policy.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Orange County, California.
11. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted at drrefills.com/terms.html with an updated effective date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
